Watched a couple good movies

I'm going to put O Brother, Where Art Thou on my favorite movie list. It's just brilliant from start to finish.

Groundhog Day doesn't quite rise to that level, but it's got a couple scenes that keep you chuckling for a while after the movie.

Agreed on OBWAT.

So many of my favourites are no longer on release. One of the leaders would be "Orfeu Negro", closely followed by "Ghengis Blues".

If you can find them they are recommended

The "Genghis Blues" has a website here: http://www.genghisblues.com/film/index.html. That sounds like a fascinating story! I'll have to see if I can get that.

I watched the beginning 10 minutes of "Orgeu Negro" on YouTube, including the opening credits. It looks pretty promising. Have I mentioned my interest in Brazil? And Greek mythology, although I'm not very clear on the Orpheus story (though, it'd only take about 10 minutes to fix that).

Ugh! "Orfeu Negro", I mean.

Well, now you've done it, Prob! You just made me spend $33 on the blues movie and album! Since I did that, I can't afford to also buy "Org..." [There I go again!] "Orfeu Negro", but I'll hunt around for it for a little while before I pay the prices I'm seeing online.

"Orfeu Negro" is the story of Orpheus following his wige Euridice to Hades in order to get her back. Death relents and allows him to guide Euridice back to the surface on one condition.

I will not tell you the end.

The music in the film was the "beginning" of bossa nova. It had been around for a bit but in the shadow of tango and samba et al...

The film was an "indie classic" made by (comparative) amateurs. That opening with the guitar solo just gets me every time.

Perservere with Ghengis Blues. The music is not quite what you might expect. Throat singing is not unique to Mongolia, and I have heard it from other places. But it is the strangest thing to hear and see one man singing a drone note and harmonics at the same time. It is a great story made better by being true.

Superb blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I'm hoping to start my own website soon but I'm a little lost on everything.

Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a
paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm
totally confused .. Any suggestions? Thank you!
